Cancer Zodiac sign

Cancer, 2023 is the Year You Bust Open Your Comfort Zone

Make growth a priority.

As much as you love to stay home, Cancer, 2023 may be shaking up your comfort zone more than what you’re used to. But it’s a good thing. Relationships, friendships, and careers are big areas of focus for you this year, and prioritising your happiness and authenticity is a must. You may find that this is the year you decide what you want, and just as importantly, don’t want. Be sure to listen to what your heart says, instead of telling yourself how you are supposed to feel. Honour your truth.

Who You Really Are

The astrological equivalent of home, Cancer is the mother of the zodiac. In touch with its family, fiercely protective and deeply sensitive, Cancer is a sign who needs to nurture and be nurtured. Represented by the crab, Cancer’s sharp claws symbolise their defences against all that is important to them. Their hard shell can seem impenetrable, but underneath lies a softness that is loving and sensitive. At your best, you are loving, loyal, compassionate and emotionally mature. At your worst, you can be passive-aggressive, overly sensitive and malicious. Learning to be vulnerable, to let go and to not take things personally is an important task for you in this life.

Cancer is a cardinal water sign that is ruled by the Moon. The combination of water signs’ creativity, emotionality and sensitivity with cardinal signs’ emotional intelligence, sociability, and determination is encapsulated in Cancer’s mother archetype: strong yet sensitive, soft yet persistent, compassionate yet protective.

The Moon, a luminary that rules our deepest feelings, most private selves, and most honest reflections, gives Cancer another layer of emotional understanding.

Finally, the 4th house represents the time in our life when we are learning to feel, especially in our home or with our family. Altogether, Cancer is a sign put here to emote, connect and, most importantly, love. Your power is in your soft heart, Cancer. When you open your heart, you feel everything.

Career and Money

2023 begins with abundant energy for you in your career that continues until the 16th of May. This will be emphasised when you act with courage, initiative, and passion. From the 20th of February until the 20th of April the energy is perfect for pursuing your long-term goals. The Aries solar eclipse on the 21st of March is especially powerful for you. The full moon in Aries on the 29th of September is a good time for reviewing your work-life balance and reflecting on your current work habits and if there’s anything you’d like to change.

For money matters, the full moon in Leo on the 7th of March is perfect for reflecting on your finances and money habits. From the 20th of May until the 9th of October it’s a great time to build financial literacy, invest and spend money thoughtfully (except for the 23rd of July through to the 4th of September).

Friends and Family

2023 is a big year for you socially, beginning with some big friendship changes between the 23rd of January and the 29th of August. New friendships may begin suddenly (or end), your social group may change, and you may find platonic dynamics switch up.

From the 17th of March until the 16th of May you will have lots of social energy and should spend it eating good food, being outdoors, enjoying nature and being creative with your friends. From the 16th of May until the 4th of September there is plenty of abundance, growth, and good fortune in your social life, so be ready to grasp opportunities and expand your horizons.

The lunar eclipse in Taurus is another big injection in friendship energy, and you may find things upturned or suddenly different, especially if you have been holding back a lot recently.

The full moon in Libra is a time when you may find yourself reflecting on family dynamics and your home life. From the 27th of August until the end of the year it’s a good time to work on your living areas (physically or energetically), strengthen, repair or distance family relationships, and improve your living situation in general. The Libra solar eclipse on the 14th of October may bring about sudden changes or inspiration for problems you have been grappling with for a while.

Love and Romance

The start of this year has a big focus on long-term relationships for you until the 11th of February. From the 1st until the 18th of January, be wary of miscommunications with your partner by being clear about your needs, meaning and intent. A personal transformation occurring on the 18th of January may change the dynamic in your partnership in a major way, so be flexible and trust the process on and around this day. Communication with your partner may also transform drastically (positively or negatively) on the 10th of February. The full moon in Capricorn on the 3rd of July will bring a period of reflection on your approach to commitment.

As far as dating and more casual romance go, things begin to change during the Scorpio lunar eclipse on the 5th of May. This is a great time to reflect on whether you are receiving the pleasure, appreciation and joy you deserve, especially when it comes to those you spend time with. From the 12th of October until the 29th of December you’re at your most outgoing, flirty and fun. Spend time prioritising what makes you feel good, authentic and loved.

Your Year in a Nutshell

When you spend your life thinking of others, it can be easy to forget that you too deserve everything you desire. The only limits are those you put on yourself. Make yourself a priority this year.

Goodbye, 2022! 2023 Is Here, and She’s Bursting With Possibilities

Let go and enjoy the ride.
This year is special in a lot of ways, and no one will leave it unscathed (but in a good way). Immense growth, change and deeper connections to themselves and others, all signs will be experiencing rare astrological events and transformative energies throughout the year. Anomalies include four Mercury Retrogrades in the earth signs, providing us with a safe time to review and recover from the intense energy between them. Another rarity, this year contains 13 Full Moons, 2 of which will be in Cancer and full of emotional, reflective and security-oriented energy. There are also 2 Aries New Moons, one of which is a Solar Eclipse, bringing us big new beginnings-type energy around March. Venus is in Retrograde around the middle of the year, in Leo. This may bring about relationship conflicts, creative blocks or revisions and financial errors so prioritise communication, generosity and compassion.
Saturn enters Pisces for the first time in nearly 27 years this year, and if you were born between 1994 and 1996, get ready for your Saturn Return; known universally as a time of big changes and “growing up”. More broadly, Saturn in Pisces will bring about a lot of emotional, spiritual and altruistic work and changing of structures within these areas. This transit will cause a global shift in the collective’s beliefs, compassion and connection to one another as structures are put in place to better support humanity.
Jupiter moves into Taurus this year, a transit that is financially abundant and full of good fortune. Growth and healing will occur for many around their bodies, their connection to the present moment, and their routines. Slow and steady progress, grounding practices and practising mindfulness are all ways to accentuate the positively lush energy this transit brings. In the second half of 2023, both Jupiter and Uranus Retrograde in Taurus, providing a time to reflect on our relationship with money, possessions, work and security.
Finally, Pluto will undertake its first appearance in Aquarius for the first time since 1798. While its full 20-year stint in Aquarius will not begin properly until 2024, this first touch will give us a taste of the change that it will bring for the first time. Transformation will occur globally in areas like technology, humanitarianism, rebellions and new ideas. This exciting new age has the potential to unite humanity more than ever before while holding the power to overthrow oppressive systems and create solutions to social problems. Aquarius in Pluto brings hope into 2023 in a way many of us have been looking for for a long time.
2023 is big, it’s unique, it’s dynamic and it brings powerful energy. As the energy of 2023 sweeps through, let go and enjoy the ride. While unpredictable and at times downright terrifying, trust that it is taking us to a better place. Ready to see where this thing takes us?
Read on for your zodiac sign’s complete horoscope for 2023.
