Eyebrow Tinting at home

Everything You Need To Know About Eyebrow Tinting

Read this before you try tinting your brows (exclusive promo code included).

Eyebrow tinting is the process of applying a semi-permanent dye to enhance the natural look of your brows. Tinting also helps to shape and define your brows. You can have this treatment done at salons or use an at-home kit. Tinting results in more richly-hued brows and promotes the appearance of thicker and more youthful-looking brows. This treatment gives a dramatic effect to light coloured brows, as well as, more intense results for those with dark coloured brows.

An average tinting session takes only about 15 minutes – whether at a salon or at home. If you were to opt for a salon specialist, you will first need to discuss how full and natural you want your brows to look. Then the specialist will prep the area, clean the brows, and apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly around them to prevent any accidental skin staining with the dye. The specialist will then mix the dye and carefully apply onto your brow, first in the direction of how your brow hairs grow, and then a second layer is applied in the opposite direction. The dye is left for a few minutes to allow for the colour to develop, then any excess is removed with a damp cloth or paper towel.

If you opt to tint your brows at home with a brow tint kit, you would follow a similar process. In this video, our very own Kimberley Denise shows how easy it is to use the Brau Brow Tint Kit. Promo Code: Mention ‘GAGGLER’ and receive a discount of 10% off any treatment booked at the Brau Salon at Springs Souk Mall in Dubai; offer expires June 30, 2020.

Don’t freak out if you see a bit of dye on the skin underneath your brows. This excess dye will wash away within a day or two. If it’s your first time tinting your eyebrows whether, at the salon or home, it’s a good idea to schedule this on a Thursday to monitor the results over the weekend.

Eyebrow tinting works on all skin types, skin tones, and hair colours. If you’re trying to tint grey or white hair, the process is a bit trickier and we suggest you opt for a salon appointment first. Grey hair is more resistant and tends to be stubborn, so the usual tinting process will need to be adjusted a bit to get the desired results. So working with a salon specialist at first is recommended until the process and timing is nailed down for you to try tinting at home.

Your brows will stand out and look fuller right away. This will help you cut back on multiple brow products that you typically used in your beauty routine to product thick, fuller eyebrows. It is important to avoid getting your eyebrows wet for at least 12 hours after doing the treatment and to clean around the area with gel or cream-based cleansers. To maintain the colour, avoid exfoliating or using oil-based products in that area as both these can cause the tint to fade faster. The tint will last anywhere from three to six weeks.

Editorial Note: If this is your first time tinting your eyebrows, we recommend doing a patch test to see if you’re allergic to the dye being used before fully committing to the treatment.
