The fashion essentials that will keep your wardrobe current each season

Summer is officially here! And temperatures are definitely rising. It’s the time of the year where I tend to switch up to lighter breathable fabrics, such as cotton and linen. I am excited to say that these natural fibers are everything but boring. Fashion designers and brands have found creative and fashionable ways to elevate these lightweight materials so you can wear them all summer long, staying fresh and comfortable without sacrificing style.

In today’s blog post I want to share with you my summer fashion staples. THE STAPLES

1. Basic T-shirt

This is actually an all year-round staple for any summer outfit, you’ve got to love a basic t-shirt. I love mine when they are 100% organic cotton and plain. They are comfortable, versatile and a no-brainer that can be paired with pretty much everything. You can easily dress the basic t-shirt up with a blazer or keep the overall outfit, cool and trendy with denim shorts, skirts, and sneakers.

2. Denim Shorts

I literally live in these all summer long. I have these very same denim shorts in both the blue and black colours, and also other denims shorts in a variety of cuts and shapes but I must say, the paper bag denim shorts are my favorite ones! They fall a little longer and hug curves really well, perfect to disguise any trouble areas. High-waisted versions are a great option to wear with crop tops without feeling too exposed.

3. Linen Blazer

Linen is a fresh airy natural fiber that really screams summer to me. A must-have piece in any woman’s wardrobe! It immediately elevates any outfit. Try pairing it with denim shorts and a plain t-shirt for an effortless cool look. Wear it in combination with matching Bermuda shorts for a “Pretty Woman” vibe and over dresses for an elegant touch.

4. The Slip-on dress

Perfect for those summer nights. A slip-on dress is a sexy yet elegant wardrobe essential, light and easy to wear during the warm weather season. You can combine the dress with a blazer or light knitted cardigan to make it more daytime appropriate.

5. Lightweight Trousers

A pair of lightweight breathable trousers add a sophisticated factor to your outfit. They are a great option to wear for a dressier occasion and a good alternative whenever wearing a dress isn’t an option.

6. Jumpsuits

I love jumpsuits. They are such a practical and versatile all-in-one outfit that I can easily transition from day to night with just switching my shoes and bag. Mix up your looks by pairing your jumpsuit with flats, heels, or even sneakers.

7. The Nautical Dress

This is a season classic that will never go out of style. And nothing summarizes a summer vacation better than a nautical dress: stripes patterns, whites and blues, natural fibers, sunshine and the open ocean.

8. The Romantic Dress

No matter the cut or length, when it comes to the perfect summer dress, it’s all about the different textures and fabrics such as knit, lace, ruffles and embroidery. These are details that have a very distinctive feminine and romantic factor, perfect for sunshine season. Try combining your outfit with other summer staples like flat sandals, a hat and a basket handbag for a romantic look.

11. Footwear

This is the time of the year where you just need to let your feet breathe and sandals are a necessity in your summer wardrobe. Leather slides are practical, comfortable, and super chic as well. You will be wearing these all summer long.

White sneakers are always welcome. I wear them all the time. Especially when I want an outfit to feel more relaxed and casual but cool. They are easy to pair and a dream to walk around in.

And of course, we can’t speak about summer without mentioning the famous espadrilles. Comfortable and feminine, these are always a convenient option and perfect to pair with dresses, trousers, shorts or skirts. The wedged heel version is the ideal choice if you’re looking to wear a comfortable and supportive heel without worries.

Spring-Summer 2023 Fashion Trends

Go bold this season.

Ahh Summer, what an amazing time of year, unless you live in Dubai and sweating from places you didn’t know existed! Whether you are travelling out of the heat or sticking it out in the UAE, I have rounded up some summer favourites for this season to keep you cool, calm and stylish.

Oversize It

It’s no secret that I love oversized everything. So the high heat of summer is no exception. In fact, oversized clothing is a big trend for summer this year. Long hemlines are showing up again in the form of full-length skirts and maxi dresses. I found these little gems at Emilia Ohrtmann. The fabrics are so beautiful and soft, I especially loved the Amaia Dress, the colour is absolutely stunning in this soft dove tone and I contrasted it with a brown leather belt. Her oversized Lily dress is an easy go-to for hot summer days and since sparkling bags are set to be another huge hit this summer, I’ve teamed it with this sequin clutch from Desert Totes.

Flower Power

Next up, Flower Power! It’s time to pull out those big, bold florals! The runways for Spring-Summer 2023 are beaming with floral designs, from all-over ditzy prints to bold 3D floral shapes, this season has them all. Needless to say, I don’t think we’ll see too many people rocking Loewe’s runway tribute to the Anthurium Flower any time soon. Nevertheless, the concept was a stunning and dramatic opening for the summer season, topped off with deflated balloon shoes and contrasting bold hues.

For a more wearable version of this trend, head over to Carolina Herrera for some inspiration of a head-to-toe ditsy print with a 3D element – this could be paired down and worn with a crisp white leather skirt for an evening look. Magda Butrym, also known as, The Queen of Florals gives an alternative to this trend with a more subtle tone-on-tone version of the 3D floral, with this chic oversized mackintosh. Lastly, Simone Rocha, shows us how to play with feminine floral shades on bolder shapes with masculine detailing for a fashion-forward summer look.

Cobalt Bold

Another trend I cannot wait for is cobalt blue for the summer season. This shade is one of my all-time favourites when it comes to going bold. In the past, I’ve tried to get hold of this colour but it’s so hard to find the right colour and shape in the same garment, so to know Spring-Summer 2023 is the season of cobalt, brings me much joy! I’m going to be looking for oversized tops, pop colour bags and evening wear in cobalt.

To head down the simplest route for cobalt, select a slim-line lightweight top and pair it with tailored trousers and you’re good to go. The colour is a good standalone statement piece so you won’t need too many accessories or details to make it look sleek and on-trend. I like this version from Cos. If you’re feeling bold, they also have a satin shirt which will definitely make a statement at the office, simply paired with black trousers will do nicely to tone the look down a little. If you want to go all out, the easiest way is with a full suit, oversized blazer and wide-leg pants to match. Maybe save it for that important presentation or for the review with the boss, nothing says confidence more than a full cobalt blue pantsuit!

Whatever you take away from the Spring-Summer 2023, make it bold!
