What To Do This Weekend, February 4

Dune bashing, supper under the stars and a once-in-a-lifetime performance on the Burj Al Arab’s helipad by superstar DJ David Guetta – it’s one heck of a weekend ahead!

Fancy a family evening out? Aussie dining hotspot Grove Road at The Pointe West, Palm Jumeirah, has launched a new Kid’s Night to kick off their weekend offerings. Screening kids’ movies from 6:30 pm on Thursdays in a dedicated area with lots of space for coloring tables, board games, and Uno cards, the cozy children’s zone is tucked away at the back of the restaurant, allowing parents and caregivers to enjoy adult conversation while kids play safely – and to make the evening all the more enjoyable, for every adult meal purchased, kids get to eat for free. Call 04 564 9874 for reservations, or WhatsApp 00971 50 152 3993.

Opening this weekend, first of its kind off-roading adventure park XQuarry is set to give adrenaline junkies and adventure-lovers a new place to burn off their energy in the heart of the Sharjah desert.

Spread across around 1 million square meters in Al Faya mountain on the site of an old cement quarry in Sharjah’s Mleiha desert, the park offers 4×4 off-roading, custom-built obstacle races, mountain biking, hiking trails, and remote-controlled car activities for beginners as well as experts in spectacular desert surroundings.

Created in close co-operation and strategic partnership with Mleiha and Sharjah Investment and Development Authority, the focus of the park is to provide outdoor training and education for people to master their off-roading and outdoor activity skills so they can enjoy thrill-seeking safely when enjoying the local landscape. If you’re a lover of Japanese food and love a bit of nostalgia thrown in with it, make your way to one of Dubai’s legendary open-air venues for a glorious dinner al fresco. So-Cho has kicked off the new year with the launch of their Friday Night Supper Club, showcasing the exceptional range of authentic Japanese cuisine the Dubai Marine destination has treated the city to for the past 20 years. With a set supper club menu including edamame, prawn spring rolls, and mushroom gyoza to start, irresistible main courses like organic chicken breast and grilled salmon, maki to share and sorbet and ice-cream to finish, with free-flowing beverages from 5 pm onwards paired with amazing sunset skyline views, at AED235 ahead, it’s a deliciously-affordable weekend treat.

There’s nowhere else on the planet we’d rather be right now than Dubai. And on Saturday night, the world’s #1 DJ and Dubai resident David Guetta will invite the rest of the world to enjoy an incredible performance taking place on the helipad of the iconic Burj Al Arab Jumeirah.

Following Miami, New York and Paris, the Dubai performance marks the superstar DJ’s fourth United At Home Show – state of the art, livestream performances designed with the hope of bringing comfort, joy, and support to millions during the pandemic through the power of music and emotions – all whilst raising money for charity.

Dedicating his performance to this city he calls home, and already raising more than 1.6 million US dollars for worthy causes from the three previous events, the Dubai edition of United at Home will see David raising funds for UNICEF, as well as Dubai Cares’ Education Uninterrupted campaign, a nationwide fundraising campaign that tackles the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on the education of children and youth in the UAE. The cause asks the UAE community to make financial and in-kind donations in support of children and youth from low-income families who cannot afford to purchase a desktop computer, laptop or tablet and join their peers in distance learning from the safety of their home.

Available to view for free across the globe, Dubai-based fans can watch the performance at 6pm on Saturday, 6 February 2021 on David Guetta’s YouTube and donate online at www.davidguetta.com
