What To Do This Weekend, February 17

From social media sensation breakfasting to celebrating the love of a four-legged friend, here’s what we’ll be doing this weekend in Dubai

Following the Tweet (from here on in, dubbed The Tweetabix) that divided millions last week, could you – or should you? – eat baked beans on Weetabix? Facing reactions of horror from as far and wide as the NHS in the UK to the Israeli government, the controversial breakfast pairing suggestion by Weetabix and Heinz has made its way onto the menu at Dubai’s Reform Social & Grill and Ultra Brasserie. Available until the end of the month, both venues will serve up the Weetabix and beans combo, with Chef Yugal at Reform Social & Grill also plating up Weetabix with bacon, banana and maple syrup, as well as a Florentine Benedict option, while Ultra Brasserie is offering Weetabix with Vegemite and cheese and a third option of Weetabix avocado and eggs. Brave enough to give it a try like we did? We want to hear all about it when you do!

For reservations, call Reform Social & Grill on +971 (0)4 454 2638 or WhatsApp +971 (0) 58 647 8692 and Ultra Brasserie on +971 (0)4 277 5644/+971 (0)4 420 4527 or WhatsApp +971 (0) 58 647 8691

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 19

Fancy a sustainable style shopping spree? The Ariel PODS Swap Shop makes it’s return to Dubai’s Ripe Market this weekend, encouraging market-goers to exchange pre-owned items of clothing for preloved items from the brand’s pop-up boutique. Stocked by The Gaggler’s favourite sustainable fashion emporium Retold, this weekend’s pop-up is one of a series from Ariel that aims to raise awareness about the importance of using quality detergents to keep clothes looking fresher and brighter for longer, and encourage consumers to be more conscious with their shopping habits. Getting involved is easy – simply bring an item of clothing from your wardrobe to swap with a piece from the Ariel Pods Swap Shop, and as well as some new (well, pre-loved) threads, if you bring an empty bottle of liquid detergent with you, you can swap that for a full pack of Ariel PODS at the market..

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 21

Pets are a priority at Tania’s Tea House in Umm Sequim, so why not celebrate Love Your Pet Day this Saturday by ordering a customised cookie box inspired by your furry friend? Collect it from the seventh Most Instagrammable Cafe in the World to make the most of the pet-friendly terrace, and treat your four-legged friend and yourself to something yummy – we can’t recommend the Truffilicious pasta and sweet potato fries enough!
