Scorpio season is now officially upon us and, on November 4, we have a beautiful new moon in this deep water sign. For those who may not know, the ‘new’ moon is the three days of the month when the moon sits directly between the sun and the earth, and marks the beginning of the monthly lunar cycle.Â
Setting Intentions
If you take a moment to look outside at the night sky on November 4, you will see there is no light coming from the moon in its first stage. It is this dark night sky of the new moon that symbolises empty space, like a blank canvas ready for us to create anew each month. You can see why new moons are all about setting intentions, and right now – in the deep, still waters of Scorpio – there is no better time to start feeling the changes you want to make in your life. Scorpio asks us to break out of patterns, to move past stagnation, and embrace transformation from the outside in. If you know any Scorpios, they are notoriously intense and often secretive, but have such resilience, especially when it comes to diving into the shadow and bringing forth that which needs to see the light.Â
It is no coincidence that many cultures celebrate Halloween (or ‘Samhain’, its pagan roots) and DÃa de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) at this time. These festivals are all to do with the ‘thinning of the veil’ between life and death and linking in with our ancestral lines – themes that Scorpio feels at home with. This new moon is particularly potent for the zodiac signs of Scorpio, Aquarius, Taurus, and Leo. It would be worthwhile for these signs to try to resist the urge to remain stubbornly in ideas and habits that no longer serve them. When we change our thoughts, we change our choices. When we change our choices, we are open to things that we couldn’t have dreamed possible before.
If you know your birth chart, see where 12 degrees of Scorpio fall in your chart. This is the area of life where you tend to dive deep and where you will feel a calling towards transformation right now. With the new moon opposing Uranus – the planet of shock and revelation – it can feel like we are being ‘knocked off our perch’ when in fact this is exactly where you can discover your power!
Total Eclipse of Our Hearts
Moving into November, we find ourselves in the start of a powerful eclipse season. First, we have a lunar eclipse on November 19 followed by a solar eclipse on December 4. Eclipses are all about change – rapid, fast-moving energy that signals endings and beginnings. There will inevitably be shifts in one or more areas of your life. Now is the time to have a think about the intentions you are setting and how you will make the most of these changes.
In this two-week double-eclipse period, I encourage you to remain a quiet observer as much as possible. This is a time for reflection and to really think about the direction you want to steer yourself towards before committing. Aries and Libra especially should watch their words, especially leading up to November 17 – there is likely lots of crackling tension, but remember to think before you act. You may not know the whole truth right now. The moon reminds us that we are always in a process of change and even painful endings precede new beginnings. Why not imbibe that deep, intuitive Scorpio energy this new moon and dare to stand as the most powerful, magical version of yourself?
