It’s time to introduce your inner traveller to your inner self – and what better way than with an immersive seven-day wellness tour in glorious Iceland? G-Adventures and Unique Family Travels have a range of dedicated itineraries available, for both solo travellers and group bookings.
Iceland is known as “the land of fire and ice” and the extreme contrasts in Icelandic nature are a huge part of the appeal. Diverse and beautiful, the island is home to some of the largest glaciers in Europe, as well as some of the world’s most active volcanoes. Imagine visions of snow-blanketed landscapes, Viking history, Blue Lagoon… Yet there is so much more to Iceland than you could ever dream of. It’s the perfect destination for those who are looking for the unexpected; for something out of the ordinary.
The wellness tour takes you on a tour around Iceland, starting and ending in Reykjavik and travelling through the Golden Circle enjoying yoga, meditation, waterfalls, hot springs and, of course, that famous natural heat spot, Blue Lagoon.
Day 1: Reykjavik
Arrive at any time. The included airport transfer will take you to your hotel where you can join the group for a welcome meeting. Take this opportunity to set your intention for the trip ahead.
Day 2: Reykjavik
Enjoy a morning hike to Öskjuhlíð Hill. The rest of the day is yours to explore Reykjavik – you can visit the Nautholskvik geothermal beach or Vesturbaejarlaug pools, or hop on a bike for a city tour, or go whale watching.
Day 3: Reykjavik/Hveragerði
Leave the city behind and explore the famous Golden Circle. Enjoy a yoga practice in Thingvellir National Park. Afterwards, take part in a rye bread cooking class at a geothermal bakery. In the afternoon, relax and soak in natural pools and hot springs.
Day 4: Hveragerði
Wake up bright and early for a hike up to Mount Hengill. Once at the top, stop to appreciate your efforts with a mindfulness meditation session. The afternoon is free to enjoy the spa or discover the area. In the evening, visit a nearby horse farm and enjoy a farm-to-table dinner.
Day 5: Hveragerði
Explore some of Iceland’s most famous waterfalls, including Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss, and take time for inner reflection with a guided meditation session. Continue to Dyrholaey for a quick stop before ending in Reyinsfjara, famous for its black sand beaches. End the day with a Vinyasa yoga practice right on the beach.
Day 6: Hveragerði
Start the day with a mantra meditation practice by the pool. Later, strap on your crampons for a glacier hike to Solheimajokul glacier. Enjoy a farewell group dinner.
Day 7: Hveragerði/Reykjavík
Following a restorative morning yoga practice, head to Blue Lagoon. Enjoy one last soak or a treatment before heading to the airport with your included transfer.
