Breast cancer is the most common form of the disease in women worldwide, and the second most common form of cancer overall. It is estimated that one in eight women will be affected in her lifetime, so it’s vital that you get regular checks and do regular self-examinations. Breast cancer can be beaten, as a number of celebrities have proven – including comedian Wanda Sykes, singers Sheryl Crow and Kylie Minogue, and actors Christina Applegate and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
October is breast cancer awareness month – your annual reminder to get up close and comfortable with your breasts to make sure everything is healthy. Fashion and beauty brands know how important women’s health is and often get on board during October to help spread breast cancer awareness. From encouraging women to go for regular check-ups to funding research, these five brands are helping spread your dirhams to a good cause.
1. ESTÉE LAUDER
Estée Lauder first created the pink ribbon that has become the global symbol for breast cancer awareness. To date, the company has raised more than $79 million for research and education efforts in the prevention and research of breast cancer. With numerous brands under the Estée Lauder umbrella, there is no shortage of beauty products to choose from in support of breast cancer awareness, including Clinique, Aveda, Jo Malone and Smashbox. For each sale of the special-edition cult Clinique moisturiser, $10 will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Accessorize has released a limited-edition range in support of breast cancer awareness, created in partnership with Coppafeel, a UK-based breast cancer non-profit organization that encourages women under 30 to regularly check their breasts. The proceeds will go towards Coppafeel and its important work – and we just love this handy cotton tote.
